Who to captain in Fantasy Premier League GW13

Captain in Fantasy Premier League GW13

Who to captain in Fantasy Premier League GW13 is the question that every FPL manager will face on a Friday evening or Saturday morning. In this article, I will look to ease your decision-making process with a handful of picks and I am sure you’ve got at least one of these players in your team. It is a bit harder to choose well following an international break and couple of uncertainties, mainly with Aguero being doubtful, but I am sure most of the picks will deliver. There are a couple of very captaincy friendly fixtures out there so let’s get started.

Captain tips for Fantasy Premier League GW13

Riyad Mahrez
The first match that stands out to me when looking for a viable captain candidate for gameweek 13 is the Newcastle – Leicester game. Hosts have a couple of interesting players to consider – Wijanldum and Perez but Leicester players have my attention this time. Mahrez failed to deliver in the last match, but it could have gone the other way if only he took the penalty instead of giving Vardy an opportunity to extend his amazing goalscoring run. Nevertheless, he will get his chance to shine on Saturday. Newcastle’s defensive injury problems are well documented and I am sure Mahrez will be able to sneak at least one goal in. If you are concerned about him playing away from home, don’t be. He returned 46 FPL points at home and 41 away, but he needed 156 minutes less for the more or less same return. That says something. Vardy is at this point slightly doubtful to play so that can also play in Mahrez’ favour. Consider Mahrez as your gameweek 13 FPL captain.

Graziano Pelle
If you are looking to play it safe this gameweek, I would suggest Pelle. He blanked in a narrow win at Sunderland, but he should have something to say at home against Stoke City. Stoke has been fairly solid and physical when playing away from home so I expect Southampton to bully them with numerous crosses to the penalty area. Pelle will convert if he gets the chance. He looked sharp in a home win over Bournemouth where he used his strength as he jumped over Bournemouth’s defender to send Tadic’s cross home. He probably won’t score in double digits, but he is very likely to return a decent point score.

Alexis Sanchez
Sanchez has been mentioned in every captain choice talks ever since he caught fire away at Leicester with his hat trick game. However, he blanked in each of the last three league matches. Can we trust him against WBA? Well, I do think so. He has the ability to break down rigid defense that WBA exercises especially against top teams. Ozil has been fantastic lately, though, but this one is the game he will return nothing. If he is marked properly he will be invisible, but Sanchez has more stamina to get in multiple goalscoring opportunities and he can be very deadly. He is yet again one of my captain tips. He might blank, but then again he can score big and if you choose to trust him you might be a very happy FPL manager after the match.

Romelu Lukaku
Lukaku was a bit inconsistent early in the season, but it was obvious he is going to have a much better campaign than last year. His inconsistency had a lot to do with tough starting fixtures Everton had in front of them. That period has passed, however, and now Lukaku looks like a good captain choice for gameweek 13. He returned a total of 22 FPL points in his last two appearances and that says a lot. Aston Villa (H) looks like a very favourable fixture on paper, but they did play a decent game versus Man City a debut for their new manager. They will have a hard time keeping a clean sheet now as Everton has a couple of in-form players. Deulofeu looked great lately, just like Kone, but Lukaku has the highest ownership of the three and he does have more potential. Feel free to trust him.

Harry Kane
It is hard to ignore his form when considering FPL captain for gameweek 13. Spurs have a home match against West Ham on Sunday afternoon and it looks like a great chance for Harry to extend his goalscoring streak. He scored 5 goals in his last 3 Premier League appearances and it looks like he found last season’s fantastic form. West Ham could struggle with Payet sidelined and it is hard to imagine them winning once again away from home. Kane is not in my team but if he scores again I will seriously consider bringing him. If you do have him in your FPL team you can consider putting and armband on his hand for GW 13.

Raheem Sterling
Sterling didn’t really justify his price tag since joining Man City, but he might feel extra motivated when his new team faces his old one on Saturday. It should be a very entertaining clash with plenty of goals. Sterling’s name will be on the score sheet if that is the case. Liverpool looked like a new team after they defeated Chelsea away, but Crystal Palace brought them back down to Earth. City could exploit that and with quite a few attacking options out of the picture Sterling and De Bruyne should be responsible for goals. Belgian looks like he lost his pace a bit following a fantastic start in his so I am leaning to Sterling when recommending a captain pick from Man City.

Shrewd FPL captain tips for GW13

At the end of this article, I would like to recommend a couple of shrewd captain picks for GW13. These players could return big, but they are very risky, though. However, if you are a bold guy you might end up bragging after this gameweek. Swansea has a very winnable home match scheduled on Saturday. This is a good chance for Ayew to score, but Sigurdsson might be the main man in this one. He is a very talented player that is yet to discover a last season’ s form. Could this Bournemouth match be the one where he returns big?

How about Bolasie? He also has a very nice home match in GW13. Sunderland has been leaking goals a lot this season so Crystal Palace can surely exploit that. They are coming filled with confidence after a win at Anfield. This was the match where Bolasie found the net. Can he do it again? I don’t see why not. I’ve already placed him on my FPL sleepers list article posted here.
