Another round of Euroleague excitements is behind us. It is time to look back at what we have experienced in week 7 of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague regular season of the. First of all, I would take a minute to applaud myself for avoiding Darussafaka players for my Euroleague fantasy tips. Almost all of them turned out to be a bust. You can find more on that topic here.
Round 7 Eurolegue fantasy recap – came close in MVP search
So I was searching for my own MVP of the round last week and came up just short. I had Mike Zirbes on my team and he turned out to be the runner up with 32 PIR just behind Jamel McClean who scored 36. McClean dominated the paint against Efes, team that has been playing questionable defense all season long. Instead of McClaen I reached for the other big guy on Milano’s team – Stanko Barac. Can’t say I did anything wrong by recommending Barac. He had a very good PIR, compared to his price, but I’ve missed my chance of having an MVP on my team.
My only two bad calls last week were battling each other in Russia. Bayern had beaten Khimki for the second time this year and raised his chances for the top 16 by a lot. Khimki’s coach Kurtianitis had criticized Alexey Shved for his lack of leadership and poor decision making before that game. Maybe that had disrupted the atmosphere in Khimki’s locker room. Still, that does not change the fact Bayern played a good game once again this year. The only difference is that they did not let it slide from their hands like in Madrid or Istanbul. Watch out for Bayern this year as they look like a mature and a serious team, unlike these past couple of years. Too bad my two guys Djedovic and Rice did not have the efficiency I had expected. But at least I can say that my worst pick from the last round scored 5 PIR.
