Gameweek 36 captain tips Fantasy Premier League

In gameweek 17 captain tips Fantasy Premier League article we once again bring you our top 5 picks. Last week we had 60% success rate again with three out of tips delivering. Kane blanked, but De Bruyne was unexpectedly left on the bench from the start. Our top FPL captain  pick was Lukaku though, and he delivered. Who to captain in gameweek 17? Do we trust Chelsea players and captain Hazard or Costa now when Mourinho got sacked? Considering their fixture in GW17 they just might return big. But I would rather go for the proven players this season. Let’s examine what are the best options.

Gameweek 17 captain tips Fantasy Premier League: Fantasy Sports info Top 5 picks

This promises to be a very tricky FPL gameweek, at least when it comes to picking a captain. There are plenty of players with low ownership that could steal the show. But considering them for this article wouldn’t make much sense as there’s a good chance you do not own any of them. I will list them at the end of the article. First I want to introduce my list of five Gameweek 17 Fantasy Premier League captain tips.

1. Georginio Wijnaldum – great home match for a high flying team and their arguably best player.
2. Romelu Lukaku – his form can not be ignored, not even against league leaders.
3. Harry Kane – looking to end his goalless streak against out-of-form Southampton.
4. Jamie Vardy – league’s leading scorer, need I say more?
5. Mesut Ozil – he keeps delivering.

Georginio Wijnaldum

Wijnaldum lost his position behind the striker as de Jong was employed in that area against Liverpool and Tottenham. However, high scoring Newcastle performance is expected against Aston Villa. I expect Wijnaldum to shine if that happens. Mitrovic and Ayoze responded well from the bench last time out, but they are not sure to start. De Jong probably won’t play full 90 minutes and Cisse is not  scoring goals. Having said that, Wijnaldum looks like an obvious choice. He scored all of his 7 goals at home. His best performance was against Norwich when he scored massive 4 goals. This could be a similar game for him. Is he a triple captain candidate? Maybe…

Romelu Lukaku

How Lukaku managed to score just one goal against Norwich is beyond me. He was all over the place. He missed a lot of chances, but at least, he grabbed all od the FPL bonus points. He is getting plenty of chances which is encouraging. The match against EPL leaders Leicester City could be very motivating for him. Go ahead and consider him for your gameweek 17 FPL captain.

Harry Kane

Kane disappointed their owners three gameweeks in a row. He was especially popular in the last round where an easy home win for Spurs was expected. It turned out to be a huge surprise when Newcastle scored a winning goal late in the game. Harry Kane has a good opportunity to get back on the right track when Spurs visit Southampton. This team is going through a really hard time right now, but I can’t see them bouncing back against wounded Spurs.

Jamie Vardy

I am placing Vardy on the fourth spot in my gameweek 17 Fantasy Premier League captain list. He is just amazing this season. Mahrez returned big points in two consecutive matches and I believe now it’s Vardy’s turn to shine. Everton could be the hard team to beat, but their defense is shaky. Everton will try to stop Mahrez at any cost, but Vardy has the ability to convert any given chance. While he might not return a two or three goal performance his excellent form can’t be ignored. He should score which makes him one of my Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 17 tips.

Mesut Ozil

How about Mesut Ozil? What happened to this guy? I was the first one to say he is not a valuable FPL player before the season and it looked like I was right. Until gameweek 7 at least. Since then he returned in every single game. I don’t see him stopping now. Arsenal had a great last week as they managed to advance from UCL group stage. They went on to win at Birmingham over poor Villa team on Sunday. In this GW, they have a huge match against Manchester City. Ozil has to lead his team and I think he won’t fail. While some fantasy blogs are tipping Giroud to outscore Ozil, I would like to point out that the German has BPL point potential as well. Ramsey and Walcott are also interesting captain picks for gameweek 17. But their ownership is very low and not captaining them shouldn’t hurt many managers.

Differential Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 17 captain tips

There are quite a few players more that are capable of scoring big in the GW17. Due to the low ownership they were left out of this list. However if you don’t have a risk aversion you might gamble a bit and possibly earn some green arrows as a result. Fellaini looks set to score against Norwich. Manchester United has to bounce back, but they are in a difficult situation. They have plenty of injuries at the back and their main attacking weapons are misfiring. Fellaini could start and score an awkward goal just like he did against Bournemouth.

How about Arnautovic as a gameweek 17 captain? He was great against Man City and he will look to score against Palace as well. Elsewhere, WBA has a kind set of fixtures in front of them. Bournemouth at home is a chance for a win and Rondon should be up for it. Ramsey looks like a great pick as well from Arsenal as he scored in double digits two gameweeks in a row, but I would like to single out Walcott as well. His ownership is under 2%, but he has the pace and skill to hurt shaky Manchester City defense. He is also one of my sleeper picks.

FPL  Gameweek 17 honorable mentions

To conclude this Gameweek 17 captain tips Fantasy Premier League article, I would like to mention the couple of players that didn’t make my list. First one is De Bruyne. If you are considering him for a captain pick, you could be on target but keep in mind he scored just one goal away from home. Arsenal should not be an easy opponent so I chose to avoid De Bruyne.

Ighalo will likely be a popular captain pick as he’s been on fire all season long and he scored in last three matches. However, Liverpool celebrated their home draw against WBA as if they won the league so I expect them to come out strong and to perform well. This doesn’t look like the best time to captain Ighalo.

Speaking about Liverpool, Coutinho will also be considered as captain by many. However, he is just way to inconsistent for me. At this point, I would avoid him as well.
