Gameweek 20 captain tips Fantasy Premier League

Gameweek 29

No rest for us at Fantasy Sports info on New Year’s Eve as it is time for a new gameweek 20 captain tips Fantasy Premier League article. We present you our top 5 picks for FPL captain and it is up to you to choose one. We were again 4 out of 5 in the last round but leaving out Lukaku was a mistake we won’t repeat in GW20. So without further ado, here is our list of gameweek 20 Fantasy Premier League captain tips.

Gameweek 20 captain tips Fantasy Premier League – Top 5 picks

#1. GW20 captain pick –  Mesut Ozil

It is really hard to ignore Ozil’s form. He is crucial to Arsenal these days. His brilliant performances surely silenced his critics. I have to admit, I was one of them because earlier in the season it looked like Ozil just can’t compete in this league. Somehow he managed to find his good form and he has now established himself as an EPL fantasy gold. I like him to score big against Newcastle as well. I don’t expect a walk in the park for Arsenal, but a win is a likely outcome. You can be sure Ozil will be involved with an assist or a goal. Considering his high ownership and recent big FPL returns, he is also more of a shield, rather than a sword when picking your captain.

#2. GW20 captain pick –  Riyad Mahrez

Although Vardy should be a good captain pick from Leicester in GW20 as well, I feel Mahrez is bit better. Leicester has a favourable fixture on paper with Bournemouth coming to town. Both Vardy and Mahrez are expected to deliver like they did all season long. However, I give a slight edge to Mahrez as Vardy has been struggling with fatigue / illness lately. I can see him being benched before the end if Leicester should seal the deal early. I didn’t include any of them in my GW19 captain tips, but they are good candidates again.

#3. GW20 captain pick –  Romelu Lukaku

I’ve already mentioned how I regretted not including Lukaku on my captain list in last round. I expected Everton to struggle against Stoke. They lost, but Lukaku still found the net twice. The man finally found his shooting boots. He is my captain tip in gameweek 20. Everton does have a difficult match against Spurs, but they are scoring goals and Lukaku is their main man. I can see him scoring, at least one goal, which makes him a solid captain candidate. If you are looking to buy Premier League tickets in GW20, consider this match as it should be most entertaining one. This brings us to the next captain tip:

#4. GW20 captain pick –  Harry Kane

I did not like how Spurs played against Watford, and I was especially not convinced with Kane. However, this is an important game for them. Everton has been conceding a lot of goals and I can see Kane pushing his team to success. We are yet to see if Spurs will be able to take something out of this match, but I do see them scoring. Kane is their best attacking option and my penultimate captain tip for Fantasy Premier League gameweek 20.

#5. GW20 captain pick –  Odion Ighalo

Last captain pick for GW20 is Ighalo. He is just amazing. I still don’t own him in my EPL fantasy team as I expected him to stop scoring with difficult fixtures that Watford had lately. However, he didn’t. He seems to be fixture proof and he has to be considered even against Man City.

Risky Gameweek 20 FPL captain tips

Once again, I would like to add a couple of more risky GW20 captain tips. Arsenal has a winnable match on paper against Newcastle. Beside Ozil and Giroud, two more players wearing the same football jersey can be considered. Walcott and Ramsey seem like interesting armband candidates. Their low ownership makes them differential captain picks.

I want to mention three more differential captain picks in gameweek 20. Delle Alli, Diego Costa and Martial. All these players could return big points in the next GW. Delle Alli has been in a good form lately, Costa should return to Chelsea lineup and should be eager to score. The Blues have to play v Crystal Palace (A). This team has severe injury issues with most of their attacking options out of the picture for this match. This should allow Chelsea to focus on getting all the points and Costa could be on target.

Gameweek 20 captain tips Fantasy Premier League article conclusion

There you have it, guys. This was my list of top 5 captain picks for EPL fantasy gameweek 20. I didn’t include a couple of players that might be popular among other FPL managers. Aguero is one of them. I just think it might be too early for him. Especially away from home. Let’s give him some more time as he is unlikely to play full 90 minutes.

Benteke scored in two consecutive matches, but he also missed two huge one-on-one chances in each of those games. This could affect his confidence and I don’t see Liverpool having an easy match against West Ham (A). For that reason, I would also avoid Coutinho although you never know with him. What do you think? Who is your captain pick for gamewek 20?
